The Fiscal Lab on Capitol Hill, a Washington based non-profit organization, is pleased to announce the appointment of Drew Gonshorowski as its Senior Fellow in Means-Tested Programs.
Mr. Gonshorowski recently completed two distinguished years as the Director for Medicaid and Long-Term Care for the State of Nebraska. Prior to that position, he was a Senior Research Fellow with the Paragon Health Institute, the nation’s premier health policy think tank. Mr. Gonshorowski began his public policy career at The Heritage Foundation where he was a long-time research fellow with the Center for Data Analysis.
Mr. Gonshorowski will be joining the Fiscal Lab at a critical time in this country’s fiscal history. Rapidly rising public debt, driven by annual budget deficits in the current and 52 of the most recent 56 fiscal years, threatens the country’s financial future and economic growth. Much of these annual deficits are fueled by means-tested and mandatory program outlays. Controlling the pace of future deficit growth requires substantial program reforms and major efforts to restore program integrity by rooting out fraud and abuse. Mr. Gonshorowski will assist Members of Congress in these efforts.
Drew’s appointment brings much needed help for reform-minded members of the House and Senate. An expert is now on duty to offer insights on and options for addressing what’s wrong with important means-tested programs, including why they cost so much, and what we can do stop program abuse. I expect that Drew will be in great demand the moment he starts working with the Fiscal Lab on Capitol Hill.William Beach, Executive Director of the Fiscal Lab
